Dino De Laurentiis, the Oscar-winning Italian producer of films including "Serpico," "Death Wish" and "Red Dragon," died in Los Angeles on Thursday (November 11) at the age of 91.

The prolific De Laurentiis began his career in the 1940s and produced more than 500 films over the next seven decades. Following World War II, he produced two Federico Fellini films, "La Strada," which won a Foreign Language Oscar, and "Nights of Cabiria." He went on to produce high-profile projects on both sides of the Atlantic, notably Audrey Hepburn and Henry Fonda's "War and Peace," Anthony Perkins' "This Angry Age" and Kirk Douglas' "Ulysses." He also had a taste for the lowbrow genre flick, producing films like 1961's "Goliath and the Vampires" and 1968's "Barbarella."

In the 1970s, De Laurentiis set up shop in New York and worked on films including "Serpico," starring Al Pacino, "Death Wish," with Charles Bronson, and "Three Days of the Condor," featuring Robert Redford. Later he produced David Lynch's "Blue Velvet," as well as four movies in the Hannibal Lecter series: "Manhunter" (1986), "Hannibal" (2000), "Red Dragon" (2002) and "Hannibal Rising" (2007), which was his final film.

His storied career was marked by 38 Oscar nominations and two wins, one for Best Foreign Language Film for "La Strada" in 1957, the other the honorary Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 2001.

In his personal life, De Laurentiis was married to actress Silvana Mangano, the star of "Riso Amaro," one of his first films, from 1949 to 1989, when Mangano passed away. They had four children together: Veronica, Raffaella, who is also a film producer, Federico, who died in a plane crash in 1981, and Francesca.

De Laurentiis was later married to American film producer Martha Schumacher, with whom he had two daughters, Carolyna and Dina. In addition to his second wife and five children, he is survived by his granddaughter, celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis.

Lady Gaga Racks Up Three EMA Wins

Singer accepts trophies for Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song live from her Budapest concert.

Lady Gaga wasn't in the building, but she still managed to steal the show at the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards Sunday night (November 7).

Gaga couldn't attend because she was dishing out the theatrics on her latest Monster Ball tour stop in Budapest. But the pop sensation interrupted her Budapest show to accept her trophies live via satellite, giving acceptance speeches in the extravagant looks that have shocked many red-carpet watchers.

Gaga's winning streak began early in the night when the star picked up the award for Best Pop, which she accepted mid-show in a sculptural purple jacket. Later, she picked up Best Female in a black bodysuit in front of a sooty car, giving a heartfelt speech and sharing a brief lip-lock with the dancer who handed her the trophy.

The singer really let loose when she nabbed Best Song for "Bad Romance." Rocking yellow hair and donning a sheer, plastic minidress — the only thing obscuring her nipples were pasties in the shape of an "x" — Gaga accepted the award with the type of show-stopping energy she's become renowned for. After lamenting that she couldn't be in Madrid physically, she began to belt out a funked-up version of her The Fame: Monster track "Teeth." "Show me your teeth!" she sang, working some James Brown-esque moves that included a full-on, rock-and-roll backbend on the ground.

Even EMA host Eva Longoria gave Gaga a shout-out, trotting out in a giant ham costume she quipped the singer left behind — a cheeky reference to Gaga's headline-grabbing VMA meat dress.

The 2010 EMA show airs on MTV2 on Sunday (November 7) at 9 p.m. ET, and an edited, performance-heavy version will be broadcast Friday at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.

Alicia Keys has proven to be as selfless in real life as she is in song.

The singer held her 8th annual Keep a Child Alive Black Ball event in New York on Thursday night. The fundraiser brought out Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Usher, Jay Sean, Janelle Monae, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston and more.

Jay-Z and Keys' husband, Swizz Beatz, performed "On to the Next One," and Jay later performed "Empire State of Mind." Monae also hit the stage, as did Keys and Sade, who performed a duet, "Love Is Stronger Than Pride."

"It's my heart and soul," Keys told MTV News about the organization she co-founded. "Since the beginning, we've been very driven to do incredible work. I'm proud to show what four to five women who are very dedicated can do."

The organization benefits children and families who have been affected by AIDS but can't afford to purchase medicine; the event reportedly helped raise $2.4 million.

This year, Keep a Child Alive introduced the "Buy Life" T-shirt. The shirt features a large barcode on the garment; donors can buy the shirt and scan the code with their smart phones to make a donation to the charity. Every time the code is scanned by a phone, a donation goes through. Ryan Seacrest, Kim Kardashian and Katie Holmes are among the celebrity spokespeople appearing in ads for the shirt.

"It's like a dream to me to be among these people singing and performing, and opening people's eyes to what Keep a Child Alive can do," Keys said.

Lady Gaga Immortalized With Multiple Madame Tussauds Statues

Eight wax figures, each wearing a unique Gaga fashion, will appear in museums December 9.

Lady Gaga might be keeping a low profile as she preps the release of her forthcoming album, but next month, the pop star will be hitting the stage — in the form of wax, that is. On Thursday (November 4), it was announced that Madame Tussauds is set to unveil a series of distinctly styled Gaga wax figures in eight of its worldwide museum locations on December 9.

To ensure spot-on looks, the creators of the Gaga wax figures have been working with the pop star's favorite fashion designers. Madame Tussauds had a variety of options when choosing the eight distinct outfits for figures of the ever-evolving fashion icon, which will be launched in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, New York, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

According to a press release, all eight of the wax figures are being created by a team in West London. As with all of the museum's additions, the singer's figures were sculpted with clay before being molded in wax. Once formed, a team of expert artists and stylists remade the singer's signature looks. After four months of work, each wax replica is estimated to cost more than $300,000, resulting in a grand total of $2.4 million for the entire Gaga set.

"As one of the biggest and most unique talents in the world, Lady Gaga is the perfect subject for the biggest figure launch in Madame Tussauds' history," the release says. "All of the styles being worked on are classic Gaga and we're sure her fans will be delighted with the unique looks when we unveil the figures next month."

The featured styles will be: Lady in Lace (The Brit Awards 2010), Telephone (Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, March 2010), Harlequin (Grand Intercontinental Hotel Seoul, South Korea), Kinky Boots (Hakkasan restaurant, London), Mini Mouse (BBC Radio 1 studios, London), Hair Hat (Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas), Wired "wing" dress with lightning "eye" (Wetten, dass..? gameshow, Germany) and Big Hair (Phoenix Hotel, Denmark).

Gaga's "little monsters" should be familiar with most of the styles, as they suggested the looks they'd like to see replicated.

Which Lady Gaga look do you want to see at Madame Tussauds? Share your thoughts below!

'Harry Potter' Screenwriter Says It's 'My Fault' If Fans Hate 'Deathly Hallows'

'We had to make movies as smart as her books and as smart as her,' Steve Kloves says of J.K. Rowling.
By Eric Ditzian

Daniel Radcliffe in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1"
Photo: Warner Bros.

Steve Kloves, who penned the scripts for seven of the eight "Harry Potter" films, rarely gives interviews. He has popped up at just one red-carpet premiere for the boy-wizard franchise. He's a guy, in other words, who likes to stay in the background. But he'll take responsibility for one thing: If fans hate "Deathly Hallows," it's all his fault.

"If people like a 'Harry Potter' movie, it's because of the book," he told the Los Angeles Times. "But if they don't like it, then it's my fault."

That might be overstating the case just a bit, though Kloves certainly has his fair share of haters within the "Potter" fan community. But there's a reason Warner Bros. turned to him again and again to adapt J.K. Rowling's novels for the big screen: one heck of a track record. His "Potter" screenplays (all but 2007's "Order of the Phoenix") have provided the backbone for $4.7 billion in worldwide box-office receipts and counting.

Yet the self-deprecating scribe gives much of the credit to Rowling, with whom he's struck up a deep creative friendship. "The single greatest thing I take from the experience of the past 10 years is becoming friends with Jo," Kloves said. "That's a separate thing from all of this now, separate from 'Potter,' and it's become a very important part of my life. I used to say she's the coolest chick on the face of the planet. You read that first book and you thought, 'Angela Lansbury wrote this book,' then you meet her and she knows all of your music references and she's funny. The first thing you pick up sitting down with her though is the intelligence. We had to make movies as smart as her books and as smart as her."

Leave it to others in the "Potter" brain trust to argue that Kloves bears as much responsibility for the franchise's success as anyone. "I think it's a really terrific partnership of two really fabulous writers," "Deathly Hallows" director David Yates said. "There is also a kind of delicacy and poignancy that he finds in some moments. He's a real observer of small human touches."

It's Harry Potter Week at MTV News! Join us Monday night at 6 p.m. ET on MTV.com as we live-stream from the red-carpet premiere of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1" and talk with all the "Potter" stars. And stick with us for interviews, photos, videos and much more about your favorite boy wizard before "Deathly Hallows - Part 1" hits theaters November 19.

Chris Cornell Filling In For Robert Plant On Led Zeppelin Tour? That's News To Him

'I have not been approached to fill in for Robert Plant on the Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be,' singer says.
By Chris Harris

Chris Cornell
Photo: MTV News

Former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has spoken out for the first time about rumors that he's been asked to fill in for Robert Plant on a proposed Led Zeppelin reunion tour. The trek would feature original guitarist Jimmy Page, original bassist John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham taking over on drums for his late father, John Bonham.

Cornell has been mentioned — along with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, White Stripes mastermind Jack White and Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy — as a potential Plant fill-in. Plant has already said that he wouldn't take part in the tour.

"I have not been approached so far to fill in for Robert Plant on the upcoming Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be," Cornell told MTV News. "I've heard that from about 200 people now, and it might be one of those situations where it's just an online rumor or it might be true. But if you see anyone from Led Zeppelin around, let me know. I think I should actually fill in for Jimmy Page on the Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss tour."

Cornell's denial comes just a day after Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford confirmed reports that frontman Steven Tyler recently met with Zeppelin for an impromptu jam session. "They did it for fun," Whitford said during an appearance on the syndicated show "Todd N Tyler Radio Empire." "I actually think Jimmy wanted Steven to come over and play a little bit because I think he was trying to light a fire under Robert."

Rumors of a Zeppelin reunion tour have abounded since the iconic band played a single reunion set last year at London's O2 Arena. Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider added fuel to the fire last month when he revealed that the group was thinking of touring, with or without Plant.

According to Snider, the rest of the band told Plant, " 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go. Here's a gazillion dollars on the table. If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid [Myles Kennedy].' "

"And he can sing the sh-- out of Zeppelin," Snider added. "They're going to hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in."

In a recent interview, Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought to take over for Plant. "We are trying out a couple of singers," he said. "We want to do it. It's sounding great, and we want to get on and get out there."

But Jones insists that he, Page and Bonham aren't interested in finding a Plant clone. "It's got to be right," he said. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be onboard."

Of course, even if Zeppelin were to approach him, Cornell might be too busy to take over vocals for the band. His upcoming Timbaland-produced solo LP, Scream, will be released within the next few months. Cornell told MTV News last month that some of his fans might consider Scream something of a departure, but he doesn't see it that way.

"It makes me happy that there's this perception that I have a group of fans that I'm now sort of throwing a curve at and what their reaction will be," he said. "But I've been in this situation so many times already. When I put out [1999's] Euphoria Morning, my main goal was to create an album that sounded like nothing I'd done in Soundgarden, and I did that. I also had that with Temple of the Dog, where I showed up with songs that weren't necessarily riff-based. And then, of course, the pairing of me and members of Rage Against the Machine had everyone sort of speculating about what that would sound like.

"It feels like I've done this so many times that when it's presented to me as being a departure, I feel that's a misconception," he added. "I feel like that's my theme at this point."

Rachel McAdams Not As 'High-Strung' As Her 'Morning Glory' Character

'She's a go-getter,' actress tells MTV News about news-producer role.
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Rachel McAdams in "Morning Glory"
Photo: Paramount Pictures

Although many remember Rachel McAdams for her early breakout roles — as ruthless queen bee Regina George in "Mean Girls" and feisty Allie Calhoun in "The Notebook" — she has filled out her résumé with a slew of meaty and diverse films, a body of work that has kept her from being typecast.

In her latest film, "Morning Glory," McAdams stars alongside Hollywood heavyweights Diane Keaton and Harrison Ford, who play a pair of antagonistic anchors on a struggling morning show. McAdams portrays the show's energetic up-and-coming news producer who tries to boost the ratings and rein in the reporters.

When MTV News caught up with McAdams recently, we wondered if she possessed the same intense energy and hustle as her character, Becky.

"I don't think I'm quite as high-strung," McAdams said. "I hope I'm not as [high-strung] as Becky is. She's a go-getter."

When asked in what instances she might share Becky's exuberance, McAdams cited her film work, specifically being able to play up the physicality of her spunky "Morning Glory" character.

"Well, my job. I love getting in there and being really physical. When it started to look like she was going to be fairly physical, [director] Roger [Mitchell] asked me to run around New York in high heels, and I love that stuff," she said. "So, yeah, that's I guess what I have that [high energy] for, but I don't manifest it the same way Becky did."

Check out everything we've got on "Morning Glory."

Britney Spears' Best Pre-'Glee' Comedy Moments

Before she hits up 'Glee,' relive her small-screen history.
By Jocelyn Vena

Tuesday night's (September 28) "Glee" episode is all about Britney Spears. While fans and the show's stars are excited to see the singer light up the screen in the appropriately titled "Britney/Brittany" episode, it's hardly the first time Spears has performed for a laugh on the small screen (and we're not talking about her docu-series "Britney & Kevin: Chaotic").

Spears brought the funny in a show-opening appearance on the 2009 VMAs, her top 10 list on "Late Night With David Letterman" and on "Saturday Night Live," especially during her stints as the show's host in 2000 and 2002.

In 1999, Britney Spears stopped by "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" to teach Melissa Joan Hart a lesson or two about loneliness, fame and the proper way to do choreography. The duo also hooked up for Spears' "(You Drive Me) Crazy" video from the soundtrack for Hart's movie "Drive Me Crazy," which featured "Entourage" star Adrian Grenier.

Spears was one of the many pop stars to stop by "Will & Grace" when she made an appearance on the show in 2006. She showed off her Southern accent and comedic flair as closeted lesbian Amber Louise.

The singer proved she was funny once again when she appeared on "How I Met Your Mother" in 2008. Her People's Choice-nominated cameo (she was up for Favorite Scene-Stealing Guest Star) had fans rooting for her again after a difficult period in her personal life. She hit the small screen as Abby, a receptionist with a grudge against Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) after he forgot to call her after they, uh, went out.

What was your favorite small-screen moment for Britney Spears? Let us know in the comments!

Blowing Leaves

So, how cool is being a kid?

My brother-in-law was blowing leaves this weekend and Jack and Nora thought it was the greatest thing ever. I love this photo because they don't have a care in the world. Very lucky kids.

(For the record, Jack doesn't run around in leggings; he had them on underneath his Halloween costume.)

Britney Spears 'Glee' Episode Draws Record-Setting Ratings

Tribute episode brings in 13.3 million viewers.
By James Dinh

Madonna's "Glee" tribute episode might have been titled "The Power of Madonna," but it was the show's tribute to Britney Spears that reigned supreme. The broadcast, which featured cameos from the pop princess herself, drew 13.3 million viewers, leading the 8 p.m. hour and posting its best-ever rating among adults 18-49.

Tuesday night's episode, appropriately titled "Britney/Brittany," had a 5.8 rating and rose 4 percent from last week's season-two premiere. The feat made history for "Glee," as it becomes the first series since NBC's "Seinfeld" in 1993 to debut as the top series of the week and then spike in ratings the following week, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The episode, which highlighted Heather Morris' character Brittany S. Pearce, revolved around the McKinley High students' fight to perform Britney Spears numbers. Through anesthesia-induced sequences, the Gleeks tapped into their inner pop star to perform renditions of the singer's hits, including " ... Baby One More Time" and "Me Against the Music."

In addition to Spears' appearances on the hit Fox show, the singer took to Twitter during the West Coast premiere to thank fans for campaigning in support of the episode. "I loved it! Thank you guys SO much for making this happen!" she tweeted. The pop princess also gave props to the many song and video re-creations, including "I'm a Slave 4 U," saying, "Slave: Oh ... My ... God ...! Those little boys are SO cute! I know how hard it is to dance with that snake! Nice job."

Spears' manager, Adam Leber, also showed his appreciation for the episode, which spawned multiple trending topics on Twitter. "So glad you guys loved the GLEE episode! The Overwhelming worldwide response has been insane.3 of the top 10 worldwide trending topics.Sick! Big big big thank you to Ryan Murphy, the incredible cast and Brit's fans for making it happen...."

After such success, it wouldn't be surprising if the rumors of a second Spears-devoted episode came true, since "Britney/Brittany" only included hits from the first few years of the singer's career.

Kanye West Explains Michael Jackson 'Runaway' Scene

MC says he used King of Pop's likeness to represent cult mentality.
By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Photo: Def Jam

In a production wrought with powerful imagery, the Michael Jackson procession scene in Kanye West's film debut, "Runaway," is among the most impactful and intriguing.

Around seven minutes into the movie, which centers on the ill-fated romance between West's character, Griffin, and a phoenix played by Selita Ebanks, fireworks herald a parade of a crimson-clad marching band flanked by a mob of followers sporting pointed hoods reminiscent of the garb worn by the Ku Klux Klan. The band surrounds a larger-than-life illuminated bust of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, while Griffin and the phoenix excitedly look on.

When West sat down with MTV News' Sway for a live Q&A session that followed the film's premiere Saturday (October 23) on MTV, he explained that he juxtaposed Jackson's likeness with the hooded marchers to make a comment about the potent pull of cult mentality.

"The hood, what it does represent to me ... in relation to the Michael Jackson thing is not the KKK but the concept of cult, because it's multiple people with this hood on," West explained. "It's me taking [the phoenix] to my world and saying, 'Let me show you what my world is about.' "

West said he invoked the image of the late icon, whose expansive cultural reach was unparalleled, to demonstrate the energy of the pop realm.

"The greatest, biggest pop-cultural figure of all time, arguably bigger than Jesus Christ, is Michael Jackson. You have the band in front of him, marching ... and you have the cult around it," West said, before explaining the scene that precedes the procession, of a young boy in mid-sprint brandishing a flaming baton.

"If you saw the kid in the beginning, he's running and running at top speed holding his torch, and his torch represents his thoughts and ideals. At the end, after he's been cultivated, he has the hood on now and he's walking extremely slow. That's basically how people think," West said. "It's the way society has set people up to be able to control them, slave mentalities."

Yeezy added that coaxing people into social conformity is an effective form of control — assuming the followers don't decide to break away on their own trails.

"[By] just creating this mentality by cultivating the ideals ... you could just make people just stand in their own mental jails," he said. "What happens when someone isn't in a mental jail?"

What do you think of Kanye's explanation of the Michael Jackson "Runaway" scene? Sound off in the comments!

'Megamind' Opens With Huge Box-Office Sales

Animated flick made $12.5 million Friday.
By Mawuse Ziegbe

The animated superhero comedy "Megamind" ruled the box office opening day. Boasting voice-over contributions from Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill and Brad Pitt, who was happy to lay off the makeup and wardrobe for his latest role, the movie opened in first place with $12.5 million.

"Megamind," a tale of a villain looking to flex his evil skills, barely inched ahead of "Due Date" for the #1 spot, with the Dreamworks offering fending off the Zach Galifianakis and Robert Downey Jr. comedy with just a $300,000 lead. The latest from "Hangover" director Todd Phillips raked in $12.2 million in Friday box-office sales.

Debuting in third place is the all-star drama "For Colored Girls." Tyler Perry's screen adaptation of the landmark 1975 Ntozake Shange stage production "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf" arrived in theaters with $7.4 million. Featuring a diverse ensemble, which includes Thandie Newton, Kimberly Elise, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, Kerry Washington, Loretta Devine, Janet Jackson, Tessa Thompson and Whoopi Goldberg, the film's stars say the movie is "a great statement on sisterhood and community."

The torture thriller "Saw 3D" continued to scare up ticket sales after its big Halloween-weekend debut. The latest installment in the horror franchise took the fourth-place slot at the Friday box office, picking up about $2.6 million. Friday's number tips the film's total haul to around $33 million.

The assassin, action flick "Red" kicked off the weekend in fifth place. Heavy on firepower and fiery performances from Hollywood veterans Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich, the film scored $2.5 million. The Friday figure bumps the film's total tally to roughly $65 million.

Check out everything we've got on "Megamind," "Due Date," and "For Colored Girls."

In 'For Colored Girls,' Janet Jackson Puts 'Her Walls Up'

Tyler Perry's latest film, "For Colored Girls," is garnering a lot of buzz — both for being adapted from playwright Ntozake Shange's 1974 Broadway hit "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf" and also for the dazzling group of high-profile actresses Perry assembled for his cast, including Thandie Newton, Kimberly Elise, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, Kerry Washington, Loretta Devine, Janet Jackson, Tessa Thompson and Whoopi Goldberg.

In transporting Shange's celebrated work from stage to screen, Perry selected 14 of the play's 20 poems and shaped them into a narrative that follows the lives of nine black women living in and around Harlem — all of whom are confronted with a range of crises, from love, abandonment and rape to infidelity and abortion.

Jackson plays a high-powered magazine editor in the film, who, to put it bluntly, is a witch on wheels. Given the fact that Jackson comes across as shy and soft-spoken in person, we asked her what she pulled from in crafting her hardened, hard-to-like character.

"Everything was there [in the script]," Jackson told MTV News. "I'm a lover of old black-and-white [movies], so I did a lot of research in that area, one in particular was 'Adam's Rib' with Katharine Hepburn. Her running this company, being the head and just the energy she carried. She's someone who has no time for niceties, really," she explained, adding that getting into that hardened place required putting distance between her fellow castmembers. "That was a tough thing for me, to drop the 'please' and the 'thank you,' just trying to get into the role, get into her head and doing that at home and in my world, that was kind of tough, but eventually it happened. [Laughs.] She has her walls up, for sure."

"For Colored Girls" opens Friday.

Jay-Z, Eminem Joined By Kanye West, Beyonce, Others At Yankee Stadium

Drake, Chris Martin, Nicki Minaj also appear at first New York stop of Home and Home tour.
By Shaheem Reid

Eminem and Jay-Z perform at Yankee Stadium on Monday
Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage

NEW YORK — A year ago, Jay-Z showed why he's music's Emperor of the Empire State with a historic charity concert at Madison Square Garden, which Jay called "the house that Hovie built." On Monday night, "the God MC" took his mastery of performance to the front stoop of Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, Yankee Stadium. And because that's no setting in which to go small, he brought out special guests like Kanye West, Drake, Chris Martin, Swizz Beatz, Nicki Minaj and, of course, Beyoncé.

After kicking off in Detroit two weeks ago, Jay and Eminem's Home and Home concerts landed on the Jiggaman's soil for shows on Monday and Tuesday (September 14). This time, after J. Cole opened, Slim Shady shook the stadium in the second slot, with special guests the G-Unit and Dr. Dre. Then Jay took over with a bevy of surprises and a catalog of hard-line hits.

"Before I start this piece, let me say, rest in peace to the boss, George [Steinbrenner]," Hov began, freestyling a reference to the late Yankees owner after commencing his program with the "Dynasty Intro."

"By the time we sliding home/ I hope we playing in the dome," he continued rapping.

During "Run This Town," Jay asked, "Where you at, boy?" And out came 2010 VMA closer Kanye West in a red suit. The roar was thunderous for the Louis Vuitton Don, who also rocked a huge gold link chain.

They followed up with the first live performance of the "Power" remix — where all 50,000-plus people did the soulful "power clap" — and "Monster." There was no Rick Ross on the latter, but 'Ye and Hov brought out Nicki Minaj, who was showered with love from her hometown.

Hov said that since they were in New York, he couldn't let Kanye off the hook that easy. West told the audience he was going to "take them back." The Chicago-born icon then crushed the concert with "Can't Tell Me Nothing" and a follow-up haymaker of the stadium-friendly "Good Life."

"It's one of the most unbelievable feelings in the world, being from New York and being in Yankee stadium," Jay said about the night.

"That's how you feel, New York City?" Hov continued, in response to the crowd's overwhelming cheers. "New York City, is that how you feel tonight? I can't believe this sh--!"

Jay's next guest was Bronx native Swizz Beatz, who was also celebrating his birthday. What a present!

Further along in his set list, Jay rolled out his jaw-dropping verse from "Free Mason." Like in most of his shows, the Jiggaman constantly spoke to the crowd. "Just because you question religion doesn't mean you don't believe in God," he said after his rumor-admonishing verse. "Don't let anybody scare you into having their beliefs. Be a muthaf---in' renegade."

Out came Eminem for their classic colossal meeting of the minds. No matter how many times they perform "Renegade," it's still surreal to see the two biggest names in rap stand unified, side by side.

Memphis Bleek then came out for a parade of familiar Jay knockers, including "U Don't Know," "99 Problems" and "Big Pimpin'."

There was a tribute to hip-hop's gone-but-not-forgotten greats that included B.I.G., D12's Proof, Pimp C and Tupac Shakur. Monday was the 14th anniversary of Pac's tragic death.

Chris Martin from Coldplay came out to sing the hook on "Heart of the City." Martin was crisp and soulful on the mic. Jay kicked the graceful lines to "Most Kingz," and then Martin took the energy up a few levels with "Viva la Vida."

"I used to rule the world," the crowd sang. "Seas would rise/ When I gave the word/ Now in the morning I sleep alone/ Sweep the streets I used to own/ I used to roll the dice/ Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes."

Hov then told his DJ to throw on any song, and out came Drake for "Miss Me."

"Tellllllll me/ What's really going / Drizzy back up in this bitch/ What's happenin!!!" Drake came on rapping. The approval for the 23-year-old was vibrant.

"Say, 'Free Weezy!' " Drake commanded during Lil Wayne's verse. Jay and Drizzy then let the mics explode with "Light Up."

Not letting the audience catch their breath, Beyoncé came out for "Forever Young."

"One word, Beyoncé, make some noise," Jay said about his wife. "That girl baaad! That girl tough!"

After "Already Home" came "Empire State of Mind." No Alicia Keys, but Roc Nation artist Bridget Kelly was on her A-game with the vocals. Not that it mattered, because the NYC crowd drowned the song out.

"This is better than any Grammy. Better than any MTV award," Jay said about being able to rock his city.

He then went into overtime with a barrage of classics such as "Jigga My N---a" and "Izzo."

He told the fans he wasn't going anywhere and continued to keep the energy high with "Where I'm From" and "Dirt Off Your Shoulder." Most of the sold-out crowd stayed until the very end, which featured Jay doing the Linkin Park mash-up version of "Encore."

"This night was like a gift for me," said the man who seemingly has everything. "I hope I returned it tenfold."
